A press conference to announce the results of a survey on citizens’ satisfaction with the poverty alleviation strategy, which was conducted in cooperation with the Nissan Institute for Democratic Awareness

The Ther Development Center and the Nissan Institute for Democratic Awareness held today a press conference at its headquarters to announce the results of a questionnaire about citizens’ satisfaction with the poverty alleviation strategy, which was conducted in cooperation with the Nissan Institute for Democratic Awareness in the governorates of Basra and Muthanna. The questionnaire showed that most citizens in the two governorates do not know about the strategy Poverty alleviation, for which its first five-year strategy was approved in 2010, and the second in 2018. Despite these strategies, poverty rates increased in the two governorates. The recommendations of the general policy paper that the Ther Development Center and the Nissan Institute for Democratic Awareness worked on focused on reconsidering a strategic methodology. Alleviating poverty and focusing on creating job opportunities for the poor and working hard to reduce corruption, which is the first reason for the poor performance of poverty alleviation strategies. It is even the first cause of poverty because it misses opportunities to stimulate development.
